Takuro Ishizaka Cinematographer
Takuro Ishizaka is a distinguished cinematographer working between Los Angeles, California, and Tokyo, Japan. Originally from Kawasaki City, Japan, he was raised in a creative household of directors and writers, which naturally nurtured his passion for visual storytelling. He went on to study cinematography at Chapman University, where he specialized in film production.
Ishizaka is best known for his work on the Rurouni Kenshin live-action film series, all of which are now streaming on Netflix. His cinematography brought a fresh visual language to the samurai genre, blending dynamic movement with striking aesthetics. The series is widely regarded as one of the most successful manga and anime adaptations, with all five films topping box office charts in Japan and across Asia.
Beyond narrative filmmaking, Ishizaka’s deep expertise in cutting-edge camera and post-production technology has led to collaborations on major product launches, including the Canon C500, Panasonic Varicam, Zeiss Radiance lenses, DJI Ronin 4D, and RED Komodo.
His upcoming projects include the Searchlight Pictures film Rental Family starring Brendan Fraser, and Lear Rex starring Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain.
